Ok, after a bit of goofing round it makes more sense, its just confusing due to the angle its at, but either way, try putting your hand where he has it without looking like a compete douche.

Actually, one of the main reasons punks would have finger wraps instead of rings or tattoos is because they're easier to edit. On Lost, Charlie's originally said L O V E - H A T E, but he later changed this to F A T E to reflect his situation. As for my character, he actually does have tattoos - his left hand has a UV tattoo of the anarchy symbol.

Anyway, since Imodelled the pose myself I can confirm nothing's backward, broken or snapped off - I simply have the thumb inside the jacket pocket. That's a pose I came across a few times while searching for references and I felt it worked, though apparently you disagree.

As for the right hand (ie, on the left side of the image) that position is analogous to holding a mouse or typing on a keyboard. As his powers revolve around manipulating and augmenting technology, an "uber-micro" positioning of his hand while he summons his power seems appropriate.
