My first question with that image: what the fuck? his hands backwards, how the hell do you get your left arm like that without snapping your elbow??
Ok, after a bit of goofing round it makes more sense, its just confusing due to the angle its at, but either way, try putting your hand where he has it without looking like a compete douche.

Anyway, since Imodelled the pose myself I can confirm nothing's backward, broken or snapped off - I simply have the thumb inside the jacket pocket. That's a pose I came across a few times while searching for references and I felt it worked, though apparently you disagree.
As for the right hand (ie, on the left side of the image) that position is analogous to holding a mouse or typing on a keyboard. As his powers revolve around manipulating and augmenting technology, an "uber-micro" positioning of his hand while he summons his power seems appropriate.
